Like Little Shop of Horrors, this modest exploitation film engendered an avalanche of mainstream success. Initially unnoticed, it became a hit at midnight screenings and was followed by three sequels, a tv cartoon, comic books, merchandise and at least three stage musicals. It brought good fortune to the House of Troma, whose majordomo Lloyd Kaufman continues to flood the world with movies, books, seemingly unstoppable personal appearances, and now-- TFH commentaries!
as an 18 year member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (75k members worldwide), i can say that this movie is both inspiring and required viewing for most members. we have progressed to be more authentic to the period, but this film will always show us our roots in well meaning insanity..
Lots of Religious symbolism and biblical parallels in Moby Dick as in Melville's other book to film ,Billy Budd. This would have been perfect if it weren't for Peck,he just isn't creepy or threatening enough...
This is a silly question but Million Dollar Movie was on WWOR Channel here in New York correct? I was born in 1978 have no real memory of it other then the opening theme. That opening is on youtube also! Oh and this is a fantastic movie as well thanks Ernest for this...
